Cerussite

July 23rd

Reticulated Cerussite -  Crystall Classics had four specimens of these available at the show.  I did not wait for someone else to pull the trigger and got all four of them. Exceptional crystal form with these!

Gratonite
Sylvanite
July 23rd
Mixed Minerals from SMAM -   Here's an interesting group of specimens found at the show.
Silver

July 23rd
Silver from Morocco - German collector extrordinaire Paul Stahl offered me a fine group of native silver specimens from Bouismas, Bou Azzer, Morocco. These are specimens of crystals exposed from encasing calcite. These are not new to the mineral world but the quality of these specimens made it too easy to say yes to the offer.

Clinoenstatite
July 23rd
Clinoenstatite from Pakistan - A collector approached me at the show and asked if I had any interest in a lot of clinoenstatite.  For those not aware clinoenstatite is a pyroxene and usually a rather bland rock forming mineral.  However about 10 years ago a one time find was made in Pakistan that set the standard for this magnesium silicate - razor sharp, lustrous, deep green crystals better than any previously found from anywhere!  I saw this small group and pounced on them.  You will never find better crystals of this rather rare pyroxene group mineral ever.
Amethyst Phantoms
July 23rd
NEW FIND - Amethyst Phantoms from Morocco -   Polish mineral dealer Spirifer Minerals was the only one to have these at the show.  They are doubly terminated crystals of quartz with pronounced phantoms at either end of amethyst. Tomek had about 100 of these in all but only a very small select group had lustrous faces - the vast majority had matted luster on all sides.  One peculiar note about these is that they all have one side that is contacted.  The faces of a quartz crystal are all there but they are sort of funky.  Hence, there is only one display angle for these specimens and that goes for all of them.  I selected seven specimens in all for the good luster that was available.
Chalcopyrite on Calcite
July 23rd
NEW FIND - Smithsonite over Linarite & Brochantite from Morocco -   Spirifer minerals had the entire supply of this new find of smithsonite over linarite and brochantite.  Tomek mentioned that it was a very small find from Bou Bekker which has not historically been known as a source of either linarite or smithsonite. I bought every decent specimen he had.

Almeidaite
July 23rd
NEW FIND & New Species  Almeidaite from Brazil (IMA 2013-020) - One of the more interesting new recently IMA approved minerals found here was from Brazilian dealer Luiz Menezes.  He pointed me to the direction of a new mineral called Almeidaite from Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil. Luiz said that this mineral was overlooked since it was considered to be poor quality hematite. He said that the brown hue was a suggestion to him that it might be something different which it is.  It has a very complex chemical formula: PbZn2(Mn,Y)(Ti, Fe)18O37(OH,O).  He had a small group of six specimens left when I got there and I bought them all.
Erythrite

July 23rd
Erythrite from Morocco -   You never know when the supply of these things will dry up so I found a nice group of high quality specimens that we're going to require that I pay an arm and/or a leg.

Fluorite

July 23rd
French Fluorite - Gilles Emringer Collection -  There was one more blast of these incredibly diverse specimens from the Gilles Emringer collection. The first group surfaced at Tucson last February and the rest were available at the SMAM show.
