September 24th - NEW FIND
Bustamite from Wessels Mine - Here's some of the finest bustamite crystals ever found - even compared to those of Broken Hill, Australia! These are associated with calcite.

September 24th - NEW FIND
Bustamite from Wessels Mine - Here's the other new find of bustamite from Wessels. These were initially reported to be from N'Chwanng but they are from Wessels.  They are associated with hydroxylapophyllite and Mn-vesuvianite.
September 24th
New Grossular from China - Khyber Minerals (Ibrahim Jameel) had some new specimens of valentinite from the classic locality in Bolivia and he also had some amber to gold colored grossulars from Handan Prefecture, Hebei Province, China.  This is the same locality as the one that produced the large brown tabular vesuvianite crystals several years ago.  I bought all ten pieces that he had.

September 24th
Mixed Minerals from Denver - This is a group of mixed minerals found at he 2011 Denver Show.
September 24th
Pyromorphite from Rum Jungle! - According to Dave Rosewall who, along with Paul Melville, collected these this is likely the last hit for these. The locality is under water and has been filled with a lot of mud. If you missed these at Tucson don't miss this chance as this is likely it

Apatite & Ferberite from Portugal

Cerussite fron Tsumeb

September 12th
Mixed Specimens from the Dr. Joan Massagué Collection -  Here's a new group of 7 specimens  recently released from the collection of Dr. Joan Massagué.  Joan is a cancer researcher in a premier research center in New York City. I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting Joan twice in New York City to see his collection.  It is clear that his specimens have been selected carefully over a long period with rarity, quality, and scientific significance as his primary criteria. The present dispersal of specimens in his collection reflects, in part, an evolution of his interests and focus towards fewer suites and themes.

September 12th
New Gold specimens from Olinghouse mine in Nevada  -
I stopped in Reno, Nevada on the way out here to Denver and picked out two flats of specimens of new golds from the Olinghouse mine in Washoe County, Nevada.  Alan Day is currently working this mine and is hopefull of future production in the next few years.
