As mentioned earlier the theme of the show this year was Russian Minerals.  The displays based on this theme were, I would say average.  A few were very good including the Cinncinati Museum Center.  Like eveything else in Denver this year the displays just seemed to be a little "off".  Before I go any further I should stress that the views posted here are strictly my own and important only to me.  On to the cases.  To my dismay many owners of the cases which are competing are unknown to me since posting their names might bias the judging... Where I know who owns the specimens I will state it otherwise...?

A fine case of TNs to small cabinet specimens from Russia. One of the best on Russian Minerals.

Two of the better specimens in the above case.

An icy blue topaz also in the above case.

A Galena crystal with unusual morphology with chalcopyrite.

Another of the very good cases from the Cinncinati Musem Center.

Curator Terry  Huizing standing next to the case he curated.

A spectacular manganoan calcite from Dal'Negorsk.

An equally impressive galena and calcite specimen from Dal'Negorsk.

The case presented by the American Museum of Natural History. Yup, that is me in the reflection...

A monsterous and gorgeuos topaz in the above case was a center piece.

The rest of the cases have nothing to do with Russia.  But the minerals in them were nothing short of a libation for the pupils.

Keith Proctor's case of eye popping minerals. Where does this guy get these things???

The best pyrrhotite specimen I have ever seen from anywhere. PERIOD.

Anyone else notice how many of the great collections feature gold from Round Mountain, Nevada?? Did you know that the Barrick corporation is sending all of these incredible crystallized gold specimens into the melter now? That is a true crime against nature and the mineral heritage of the United States not to mention Nevada!!!

Another reason that Nevada should have been named the Golden State instead of the Silver State.

One of the reasons California was named the Golden State...Mercy!

Stunning crystalline gold from Eagle's Nest mine in Placer County, California - the heart of the Mother Lode.

Chris Stefano had a very interesting display of rare minerals in TN size.

All three of these are killers!  And, I am pleased to say I sold him the stibiotantalite.

More great things in Chris's case!

Yet two more!!

About 25 pounds of gold in one case!

Two nice views of California real estate!

A decent view of some Australian real estate.

One more exceptional crystallized specimen of native gold from California.

A case of fine minerals from Bill Severance.

This picture is a crime against how good this specimen of fluorite is.

A cabinet specimen of one of those electric blue fluorite specimens from Hardin County.

The case submitted by Bryan and Katharyn Lees - all Colorado specimens.

Rhodochrosite and aquamarine.  That rhodo is just sick!

Leaf gold from Summit County.

I would likely have collapsed in a fit of ecstacy if I saw this rock sitting in a vein underground...

You can't make this stuff up as the saying goes...

A woman praying for strength as she passes by the case full of gold.
